Dear Members of the Notre Dame Community,

As the University pauses for spring break, we are writing to provide an update on the coronavirus outbreak.

First, the University has created a website——where you can find resources and updates on this worldwide health concern and Notre Dame’s response to it. Please feel free to share the URL with parents, guardians, emergency contacts and others who may be seeking information on Notre Dame’s response.

Notre Dame has required students in countries placed under a Level 3 travel advisory from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to return to their homes, as we did last week with students in Italy. Japan is at Level 2, but Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan, is requiring all international students in its study abroad program to return to their home countries or institutions. As a result, we are arranging to bring home the three students from Notre Dame who have been studying there this semester.

If you are traveling during spring break, please review the travel and self-care tips that are available on the new Notre Dame website referenced above. To ensure that we are immediately able to contact and support you while you are traveling, all faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students on University-sponsored travel are required to register their foreign and domestic itineraries here.

Thank you, and be safe.

In Notre Dame,
Paul J. Browne
