This website details the University's ongoing response to COVID-19 in the 2021-2022 academic year. The University continues to monitor developments and will adjust health and safety protocols as appropriate. We appreciate the ongoing flexibility and perseverance displayed by Notre Dame students, faculty and staff. It is important that each member of our campus community continues to take care of themselves and others as we navigate this new phase of the pandemic.
Timely updates on policy changes and campus-wide communications will continue to be posted to this website. Additional information related to health and safety can be found in context across other University websites.
Students Testing Positive for COVID-19 Before Returning to Campus for Spring 2022
Students who have just tested positive for COVID should isolate in their current location and not return to campus until their isolation period has expired. Also, it is important to upload the positive PCR test result to the student health portal and contact University Health Services at 574-631-7497 to report the positive status. If UHS is closed, leave a message and the medical team will call on Monday to discuss next steps.
Following normal practice, any student with an absence—medical or otherwise—should contact their instructors as soon as possible and apprise them of the situation.
Updated Masking Requirement, Effective January 1, 2022
Until 90 percent of the campus community has achieved the full protection of an approved booster, all students, faculty and staff, regardless of vaccination status, will be expected to wear masks indoors on campus, except when alone in private offices, or for students, in residence halls.
Visitors to campus must wear masks at all times indoors on campus until further notice.
Student, Faculty and Staff Vaccination & Booster Requirement
Members of the Notre Dame community are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To be considered fully vaccinated, students, faculty, and staff must receive two shots of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines, or a single shot of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, plus a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna booster. The deadline for booster verification for all students, faculty, and staff is Friday, January 21.
