Dear‌ ‌Colleagues,‌ ‌

Thank you for your steadfast dedication to our students, colleagues, and University as we work together to overcome the unique challenges the coronavirus pandemic has brought upon us. I am writing today to provide you information about the University’s approach to staff pay between semesters of the 2020/21 Academic Year.

As our Provost and Executive Vice President shared earlier this week, to‌ ‌show‌ ‌our‌ ‌appreciation‌ ‌for‌ ‌the‌ ‌extraordinary‌ ‌efforts‌ ‌all‌ ‌of‌ ‌you‌ ‌have‌ ‌put‌ ‌forth‌ ‌during‌ ‌these‌ ‌unprecedented‌ ‌times,‌ ‌the‌ ‌University‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌providing‌ ‌six‌ ‌additional‌ ‌paid‌ ‌holiday‌ ‌days, as follows: ‌ ‌

  • November 25
  • December 21, 22, 23
  • January 4 & 5

To alleviate concerns about pay outside of the holiday days and to recognize the strong dedication of our community, the University will continue to pay all full-time and part-time regular staff regardless of hours scheduled. This applies to the following two periods:

  • November 30 - December 20
  • January 6 - January 26

Most staff will be required to work the majority of this time in order to support faculty research, students, and others remaining on campus. Moreover, we anticipate that preparation for the second semester will begin no later than January 27, 2021.  Please consult with your manager as to the schedule for your specific position.

If you have any questions, you may consult the Frequently Asked Questions document. You may also contact the askHR customer service center at askHR@nd.edu or 631-5900.‌

I‌ ‌cannot express ‌enough the‌ ‌gratitude‌ ‌we‌ ‌feel‌ ‌for‌ ‌your‌ ‌tremendous‌ ‌service‌ ‌and‌ ‌dedication‌ ‌to‌ ‌Our‌ ‌Lady’s‌ ‌University‌ ‌during‌ ‌these‌ ‌times.‌ ‌Thank‌ ‌you‌ again ‌for‌ ‌all‌ ‌that‌ ‌you‌ ‌do.‌ ‌ ‌

In‌ ‌Notre‌ ‌Dame,‌ ‌

Robert K. McQuade
Vice President, Human Resources
