Commencement Tassels 5 Feature 600x400

Dear Colleagues:

Our seven-day positivity rate is 0%! How far we have come in battling COVID-19! Our community has demonstrated the power of working together – and the power of widespread vaccination. Here are a few commencement reminders:

Commencement

Tree

The University of Notre Dame’s 176th University Commencement Ceremony will take place this weekend. This is not only a milestone for the Class of 2021, but for all of us. We look forward to celebrating the resilience and accomplishments of our graduates while also observing all health and safety protocols.

During the Commencement Mass, Commencement Ceremony, and all college or school diploma ceremonies, masking will be optional for all graduates who are vaccinated, as well as the official Platform Party. Notre Dame faculty and staff, as well as the families and guests of our graduates coming to campus from across the country and around the world, must wear masks. Distanced seating will be in effect – 3 feet apart for graduates and 6 feet apart for guests.

Closing thoughts

We repeat this often, but we really mean it: thank you, thank you, thank you

For this important weekend especially, please remember:

  • Wear your mask
  • Practice physical distancing
  • Wash your hands frequently
  • Look up! You never know what you will see in the trees.

Yours in Notre Dame,

Marie Lynn Miranda, Provost

Shannon Cullinan, Executive Vice President
