Dear President’s Leadership Council and Deans,

As was previously announced, to protect the health and safety of the University of Notre Dame community, COVID-19 saliva surveillance testing will be available during Winter Break, Nov. 30 through Jan. 22, only for faculty, staff and students who reside or work on campus during this period.

Because it is difficult to know who will be working and residing on campus during Winter Break, we are asking for your help. Please cascade this message to the appropriate individuals in your organization who need to be aware of testing protocols. As was true during the semester, individuals not working on campus over Winter Break are not subject to the University’s surveillance testing.

During Winter Break, your faculty, staff, and students who are working or residing on campus must complete a saliva test each week by the end of testing hours on your organization’s assigned testing day. Please see the following schedule. If a member of your organization is unable to complete a saliva test on your assigned day, that person should complete a test on another day of that week.

  • University Enterprises and Events
  • College of Arts and Letters
  • Keough School of Global Affairs

  • College of Science
  • Notre Dame Research

Note: Surveillance testing for in-season student-athletes and the staff working with them is scheduled independently.

IMPORTANT: Avoid eating, drinking (including water), brushing teeth, using mouthwash, chewing gum and tobacco products for at least 60 minutes before submitting saliva.

Location: Joyce Center North Dome - Gate 2
Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. (Closed on University holidays)

As a reminder, over the Winter Break, University Testing Center access for diagnostic testing will be limited to faculty, staff and students with a referral from the Notre Dame Wellness Center or University Health Services (UHS). For those requiring diagnostic testing, the University Testing Center, Wellness Center and UHS will have modified hours and operations over Winter Break. Family members and dependents should seek diagnostic testing in the local community.

From Nov. 30 through Jan. 24, the COVID Response Unit Hotline, 574-634-HERE (4373) or, will be available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be closed on University holidays.

Thank you,

Notre Dame COVID Response Unit
