This dashboard shows only data from the tests conducted by the COVID Response Unit at the University Testing Center during spring 2022.
The dashboard shows results from two types of tests.
- Asymptomatic tests are administered as part of the University's surveillance testing protocol (including student-athletes), supplemental surveillance testing, and tests of individuals in quarantine. The individuals in these groups are not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
- Symptomatic tests are conducted for people who are experiencing symptoms of COVID19.
There are three ways in which tests are administered.
- Saliva-based PCR test - This is the primary method used for asymptomatic testing at the Testing Center. These tests are analyzed on campus with results available within 24 hours.
- Nasal swab PCR test - This test is sent off-campus for analysis with results typically returned in 1-2 days.
- Antigen test - Also a nasal swab test, but analyzed on campus and results returned within 30 minutes.
The number of tests administered each day will be available on the dashboard the next day. As test results are returned, they are attributed to the day the test was administered. To get an accurate sense of the number of positive test results on a given day, wait 1-2 days for all the test results to be returned and for the positives to be attributed to the day the test was taken.
7 Day Moving Average - A moving average uses the average of the prior seven days to plot a point (e.g., adding up the last 7 days of positive cases and dividing by 7).
- Why use it: We retroactively allocate positive test results to the date the test is administered. This allows for better analysis of infection rates over time by smoothing out the daily variability of the data and giving a more accurate picture of positive case trends.
- Running Total is the sum of all positive cases to date.
- Percent Positive is the total number of those who have tested positive for COVID-19 divided by those who have been tested (both saliva and nasal test), also referred to as the positivity rate.
